The Pre-Retirement Council
Tayside Pre-Retirement Council (TPRC) is a voluntary organisation established some thirty years ago. We are based in Dundee at the Mitchell Street Centre.
The Council consists entirely of volunteer members from a range of professional and other backgrounds. Most are themselves retired. We have two salaried part-time employees - a Manager and an Administrative Assistant. Members, with appropriate experience and expertise, design and direct the courses and facilitate discussion sessions.
Speakers
Speakers who give talks on specialised topics such as financial planning, taxation, legal issues and health are all professionally qualified in the relevant subject area. Qualified solicitors, for example, give talks on legal matters and health talks are delivered by medical precticioners or other health-care professionals. Our members deliver the more general talks on the course such as "Adjusting to Retirement" [often, in fact, by a health care professional] and "Constructive Use of Free Time". The latter speakers, being themselves retired, have first-hand experience in those areas.
Volunteers
Our organisation relies heavily on volunteers as members and speakers on courses.
If, having attended a course, you are interested in the possibility of helping as a member and would like to learn more about the organisation before deciding, please talk to our Manager.
Patrons
Patrons are employers who generously make an annual payment to support the work of the Pre-Retirement Council. In return, they receive a discount on all fees for courses attended by their employees. These regular payments are invaluable to the Council and, naturally, we seek continually to increase the number of our Patrons. The annual subscription is currently £150 for which they receive a reduction of 10% on course fees. If you would like to support our work, we hope that you will seriously consider becoming a Patron. The Manager will be pleased to discuss this with you.
The Pre-Retirement Council is grateful for the support of the following Patrons:

Subscriptions
Patron subscriptions are currently £150 p.a. This entitles Patrons to a discount of 10% on course fees. TPRC is entirely self-financing, depending on course fees, donations and patrons subscriptions for its income. If you would like to support the valuable work carried out by TPRC please contact us.
