Tayside Pre Retirement Council Courses

Courses
Most of our scheduled courses are run as Open Courses, that is, open to anyone who wishes to apply, be they from large or small employers or individuals.  Those attending an Open Course are likely to come from a variety of different employers and a wide range of occupations.   Most will have applied through, and had their course fees paid for by, their employer.   Direct applications from people willing to pay their own fees are also welcome.

December 2011
Some employers, however, prefer to hold 'In-House' courses or seminars on their premises or have them tailored to meet the more specific needs of their employees.   We are always pleased to receive enquiries from employers to discuss arrangements for In-House Courses.

Venues & Accommodation
The courses are usually held in the Mitchell Street Centre, Dundee.  Additional courses may be arranged at other agreed venues throughout Tayside and North East Fife.
Although there is disabled access to the Ground Floor of Mitchell Street Centre, the courses are held in the Middle Floor to which there is no disabled access.   If you would like to attend a course and require disabled access, please contact the Manager.   We are happy to arrange a course at an alternative venue when the need arises.

Numbers of Participants
At Mitchell Street, we can accommodate up to 18 participants on each course.   This number renders the course viable but is still small enough to allow free discussion.

Feedback
Participant feedback obtained on each course is examined carefully by the appropriate committee of the Council and, where appropriate, changes to the content and other modifications are incorporated into future courses.

Employers
Many progressive local employers appreciate the importance of encouraging their employees who are approaching retirement to prepare and plan for this new phase in their lives.   Many also appreciate the importance of planning for the longer-term future and encourage their staff to attend courses.   They recognise the worth of funding the modest cost for their employees to attend courses where they get valuable professional advice to help make plans for the future.

Employees
Are you thinking of retiring within the next 2-3 years? Or are you aged 30-50 years and coping with Mid-Life changes at home or at work? We run regular courses where you can find advice and guidance from professionals on a variety of subjects relevant to these challenging times in your life.

Volunteers
With the exception of essential administrative personnel, we rely entirely on volunteer workers and speakers.
All course speakers are experts within their own fields. We also rely on volunteers to speak to other organizations on the Council's behalf. If you think you would like to volunteer, please contact the Administrator.

Patrons
Patron subscriptions are currently £150 p.a. This entitles Patrons to a discount of 10% on course fees. TPRC is entirely self-financing, depending on course fees, donations and patrons subscriptions for its income. If you would like to support the valuable work carried out by TPRC please contact the Administrator.

The Council reserves the right to change the dates and/or the content of courses should this be necessary.
